Inspiration for my work comes from many sources. I spend much time sketching and being in close contact with nature, absorbing my experience and the interaction of its creatures. I like to explore various media and try to capture the sensation of my encounter with each creature.

Working in great detail forms the contemplative heart of my work and is essential to the process. Graphite pencil allows me to explore more deeply the tonal range of my subject. The gaze of the Bongo calf in my drawing held me transfixed. I do feel that the curiosity between us was mutual!
